Simon de Weerdt

Simon lives in Vancouver, retired early in 2019 as a city bus driver, he works on various technical and social projects as time permits. Simon was born in Ottawa, spent his early years in Yellowknife, NWT before moving to Vancouver. The 1999 UBC BSc in Computer Science came after years of working in various jobs; roughneck, taxi driver, realtor, lumber piling, serving, painting, first aid, sales, entrepreneur developing technology, UBC tutor and it lead to work as a software developer. When the software market dried up he became a bus driver for 13+ years, driving the 99 and 95 B-Lines among others.

Simon has 4 children, now adults. He coached soccer and basketball, participated on Parent's Associations, School Planning Council, Vancouver Linux User's Group, on Strata Council and other Community Organizations.

Simon is concerned about Climate Change and the Environment, believes in the Broadway subway to UBC, , local solar energy and lifelong learning.
